Bach composed Prelude in C with learners in mind, yet the original notation can be surprisingly difficult for beginners to read. This edition honours Bach’s educational intention by presenting his original notes in a simplified format, without changing a single pitch. Video demonstrations are provided for each line of music so you can hear and follow along at your own pace.

Guided Sheet Music is my series of classical pieces arranged or simplified for beginners, with line-by-line study notes offering music reading support and my best advice on hand placement, fingering rationales, and performance options. Every title includes video demonstrations and play-along opportunities.
To get the most out of your Guided Sheet Music, I recommend keeping the PDF open on a device near your piano so you can read the study notes and access the video links as you go. Print the sheet music itself to keep on your music stand, where you can pencil in your own notes as you learn.

This edition is suited for beginners who are comfortable with basic notation and happy to work through a longer piece. Here’s what to expect technically:
No key signature; five accidentals (F#, C#, B flat, E flat, and A flat) and a natural sign appear intermittently throughout
Octave hand span in both hands
Note values used: Eighth notes throughout, with one whole note chord at the end
Knowledge of note letter names and finger numbers required
